Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj also know as Shiv Smarak is a memorial monument under construction dedicated to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The statue is being constructed facing Mumbai's Girgaum Chowpatty beach on Arabian Sea, near the coast of Mumbai, Maharashtra and It is expected that all aspects of the project will be over by 2022-23, as per government plans. The statue will be of 212 meters (696 ft) which includes 126 meters (413 ft) statue placed on top of a 84 meters (276 ft) pedestal. Statue was initially planned for 192 metres, however was increased to 212 metres in order to competing against an upcoming statue Spring Temple Buddha in China. The project area is planned to be spread over 130,000 square meters.
